The past several months, crews have been working on remolding and renovating the Labor and Delivery, Nursery and Post-Partum sections of Sierra Medical Center. This project was completed last month.
These new bigger and private patient rooms have showers and have been decorated to give a more homelike environment. The extended layout has added more space to allow for more patients and more privacy.
The new Labor and Delivery area has been increased from nine to 13 beds, and includes a new three-bed triage area, which will be used to evaluate whether a patient needs to stay or be sent home. Two operating rooms that can handle emergency Cesarean sections have been added and the recovery area now holds three more beds.
Two different newborn stations were completed and the critical care nursery was increased to six beds. Plus a consultation room was added to give patients more privacy when learning how to breastfeed. Overall more than 30 beds have been renovated, about 17 of which are located in the post-partum area.
