If someone in your family is faced with a medical emergency, our priority is to make this unexpected event as comfortable as possible. With well-equipped emergency departments at Sierra Medical Center and Providence Memorial Hospital we feel assured that you and your loved ones will receive high quality care.
Emergency Department The Emergency Departments at Sierra and Providence treat illnesses ranging from life threatening traumas to scrapes and bruises.
Just because your symptoms are not life threatening, doesn’t mean you should spend hours in the waiting room. With this in mind, patients are sorted based on the severity of their injury or symptoms. Patients with less severe ailments enter our Fast Track Care Center while someone suffering the symptoms of a heart attack or a major illness is transferred quickly to a treatment area.
Fast Track Care Center Sprained ankles, minor cuts or fevers all require prompt care. The Fast Track Care Center at Sierra and Providence treat these patients alongside those suffering life-threatening emergencies.
Heart Care Chest pain or a heart attack can strike at any time. That’s why Sierra and Providence have trained staff and specialized technology at our Emergency Departments. Our Emergency Rooms are designed to care for patients suffering from unexplained chest pain. Patients are also monitored and tested by medical staff experienced in caring for patients with chest pain or a history of cardiac problems.
Children’s ER at Providence A view from Mars and a trip around the moon are just some of the sights that help ease the stress of an emergency room visit for a child at The Children’s Hospital at Providence.
Our littlest patients deserve proper care and special treatment. The pediatric emergency room is staffed with emergency physicians, and is equipped with 11 treatment beds, three triage areas, two critical care rooms and well/sick waiting rooms.
Nursing Assessment In order to properly assess your injury or illness, the triage nurse will review the problem that prompted your visit to the Emergency Department.
The most seriously ill or injured patients are seen and treated first. Your priority of care is dependent upon the severity of other patient cases. Please check with the triage nurse should you feel your condition has changed or if you leave the waiting room for any reason.
Things you should know In order to ensure the proper care and safety of our patients and your loved ones, Sierra Providence Health Network (SPHN) asks that you observe a few guidelines during your visit at our Emergency Departments:
- Please check with the triage nurse or charge nurse before eating or drinking anything. Food or drink may interfere with tests.
- Food and drink are not allowed in the treatment area. Food odors may nauseate other patients.
- Sierra Medical Center and Providence Memorial Hospital are smoke-free facilities. A smoking area for visitors and patients is located near the cafeteria.
- Because of the serious nature of the emergency department, we ask that each adult patient only have one visitor at a time. Both parents are allowed to stay with children age 16 years or younger.
- Children under age 12 are not allowed in the treatment area unless under treatment.
