Advanced Obstetric Care for You and Your Baby



Obstetrics Services
 

At Sierra Medical Center and Providence Memorial Hospital we realize each time a new life begins it is a special moment. For more than 50 years the network has been giving babies and new mothers the kind of special attention they deserve: from neonatal physician availability to Intensive Care Nursery services, both facilities are equipped to provide high quality care for you and your baby.

Sierra Providence Health Network offers the following Maternal/Infant Services:

  • Well-Baby and Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery
  • Cesarean Birth 
  • Anesthesia Coverage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week 
  • Antepartum/Postpartum 
  • High-Risk Perinatal Clinic 
  • Well-Baby Nursery 
  • Infant Care and Feeding Classes (prior to discharge) 
  • Lactation Consultant 
  • Comprehensive Childbirth Education staff Certified in Obstetrics and Fetal Monitoring 
  • Outpatient Breast Feeding Clinic 
  • All Private Rooms 
  • Expanded or Capabilities 
  • Newborn Channel 
  • Mother Couplet Care (only at PMH) 
  • Self-Care Class (prior to discharge and only at PHM) 
  • Infant Class (prior to discharge) 
  • Rooming In Option (only at SMC) 
  • Peri-natal visits – Physician refers to perinatologist one day out of the week for four hours. The physician also sees patients in hospital (outpatient type clinic)

Childbirth Education
At Sierra Providence Health Network (SPHN) we recognize the importance of a family-centered childbirth experience. Please look at the classes we offer expectant parents and choose those that best meet your needs. Keep in mind, class topics and schedules are subject to change. Call 577-6000 during your fifth or sixth month of pregnancy to register for the classes. Some of the topics include:

  • Childbirth Preparation
  • Baby Care Basics
  • Childbirth Preparation Just for Teens 
  • CPR Demonstration 
  • Sibling Classes 
  • Pediatrician Q&A

Special Needs

Neonatal Intensive Care Nursery (NICN)
Sierra Medical Center and Providence Memorial Hospital offer comprehensive neonatal intensive care for premature and critically ill babies. The hospital has arranged to have a certified Neonatologist available. They work with neonatal staff, which includes specially trained registered nurses, neonatal practitioners, respiratory therapists and other specialists.

High Risk Pregnancy Program
Women with diabetes, heart conditions or other special health conditions are at a higher risk for developing complications before, during and after pregnancy. Women with high-risk pregnancies may be referred by their doctor to either Providence’s Perinatal Diagnostic Center or Sierra Medical Center’s High Risk Prenatal Clinic.

Sierra Providence Health Network offers a wide range of advanced neonatal and pediatric services that are designed to grow with your child’s changing needs.

Sierra Teen Health Resource Center
Our Center’s mission is to empower pregnant women to receive quality pre-natal care during the term of their pregnancy by providing them with a list of qualified physicians, help with Medicaid applications, and information on basic health care needs and community resources.

If you think you may be pregnant, the center offers:

  • Free pregnancy testing
  • Physician panel referral service
  • Prenatal education 
  • Parenting seminars 
  • Medicaid eligibility program representative on site.
