October 26, 2009:
The Children’s Hospital at Providence officially adopted the Fort Bliss Army unit, 5/1 AD, BSB (AETF). The Community partner adoption program is an Association of the United States Army, Omar Bradley Chapter initiative to join leading El Paso businesses with Army Units stationed at Fort Bliss. Sierra Providence Health Network has currently partnered with five units on Fort Bliss totaling over 3000 soldiers and their family members.
On hand for the ceremony were LTC Shear, commander of the BSB, Andy Haskell, Vice President of the Omar Bradley chapter of AUSA and Nancy Arambasick, the director of the Children’s Hospital at Providence.
This partnership has fostered a strong bond between Fort Bliss soldiers, their families and Sierra Providence Health Network. SPHN has helped contribute to Army readiness by providing education, information and referrals for specialty care for soldiers and their families at Fort Bliss. The soldiers and families of Fort Bliss in turn have provided SPHN with volunteers, static displays and a partnership that has evolved into a friendship.
