CHAP Provides CPR at Fort Bliss
Nurses from the pediatric intensive care unit of the Children’s Hospital at Providence, provided a free infant/child CPR class to Families and Soldiers on Fort Bliss. The nurses traveled to the Junior Enlisted Center on Fort Bliss which is a part of the Armed Service YMCA. The Junior Enlisted Center houses classrooms for instruction, a thrift store for clothing and goods and a food closet. They assist the junior enlisted Soldiers and their Families at Fort Bliss by providing a helping hand. The nurses from the Children’s Hospital gave a hands on instructional course on how to handle emergency situations with children that ranged from choking to accidental drowning and how to properly respond and provide CPR to infants and children in these and other emergencies. The nurses from the Pedi ICU gained a better understanding of life as a Soldier or Army Family member and the sacrifices that they make to defend our lives and in turn the Soldiers and Families on Fort Bliss gained valuable information on protecting and helping to save the life of a child.
