On December 11, 2008 Providence Memorial and The Children’s Hospital celebrated for what hopes to become an annual tradition, and a recognition of the holiday season with a Tree Lighting Ceremony.
The Engineering Department under their new Director Marco Marquez who began working here at Providence this last September, rallied his department to decorate the Children’s Courtyard, and to arranged a program to present the First Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony for the children who are currently in the Children’s Hospital. Working together with Director Kimberly Hall of Pediatrics, the Engineering Department presented a ceremony that will forever be in the hearts of many who attended.
Among those giving recognition during this Ceremony was our CEO and President of our Network Mr. John Harris, followed by Father Manuel Martinez, Administrative Director of Spiritual Care, and special recognition for lighting our tree were two children who were nominated and selected by our Pediatric staff. Following the lighting of the tree, the Engineering Department staff hosted a wonderful reception with cake, cookies, and hot chocolate; and not to forget to mention the eggnog and candy canes. The children and their parents, plus all staff attending enjoyed the vocals from the Border Choral Quartet who volunteered to sing Christmas music for all to enjoy throughout the reception
