The emergency staff has a protocol in place for patients having an acute myocardial infarction that is enacted as soon as a patient presents with symptoms. This instantly activates diagnostic and treatment modalities for heart patients, saving valuable time. This protocol helps ensure that patients get potentially lifesaving treatment such as angioplasty as quickly as possible.

Sierra Providence East Medical Center works to care for emergency patients in as timely a manner as possible. We understand that waiting can be difficult and a source of anxiety. Patients are assessed upon arrival, as soon as possible, by a triage nurse that determines the order in which patients are taken back for treatment. Thereafter, the emergency physician assesses the patient as soon as possible. We strive to see each patient and expedite their care in a timely manner.

If an emergency strikes, having a plan will ease your panic and help ensure you get appropriate medical care as quickly as possible. If you have to call an ambulance, you can direct paramedics to the hospital of your choice.

As you make an emergency plan, consider factors such as a hospital’s close proximity to your  home, available medical services and staff experience.
